Artist's Description

The 315 metre long liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker Al Utouriya, one of the largest vessels of her type in the world is expected to arrive in Falmouth Bay tomorrow morning from Ras Laffan, Qatar to take on bunkers before proceeding up Channel to Zeebrugge.

Known in the marine trade as a Q-Flex vessel she is propelled by two slow speed diesel engines which are claimed to be more efficient and environmentally friendly than traditional steam turbines.

The Q Flex ship can carry up to 216,000 cubic metres of cargo enough to heat 4.5 million homes a week.
