Artist's Description

The Environment Agency said the celebration to mark the end of the River Arun project would be “inappropriate” because of predicted high tides.

A small stretch has been left with old wooden defences by a developer whose responsibility it was to protect it.

The agency said it had put “robust contingency” plans in place.

Some fear high tides next week – said to occur every 17 years – mean there is a risk of flooding.
