Michael is an award-winning photographer and California artist who captures the graphic beauty and textures of old neon signs.

Michael Pitzer is an award-winning, American Photographer & California artist, born in Detroit and raised in the small town of Algonac, Michigan on the St. Clair river. Michael won his first art show in 3rd grade, his first architecture competition as a freshman in high school and his first art scholarship as a senior. Michael moved to California to attend ArtCenter College of Design where he bought his first camera, and Olympus OM-1. Michael’s first job as an advertising art director on Honda Motorcycles took him all over the country art directing photo shoots. During this time Michael’s fascination with the beauty, graphic quality and textures of old neon signs began to grow. Having compiled hundreds of old sign photographs Michael framed several for his design office in Sacramento, California. A visiting designer suggested that Michael show his work to Gregory Barton, the owner of the Barton Gallery just down the street. Greg liked the photography and offered Michael his first show in 2002 consisting of 18 photographs. Michael had two sales — a single photo to one person and a group of 16 photos to another. Since then, Michael has shown in Artemida Fine Art Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona and has become a member of the Fig Tree Gallery in Fresno, California, the oldest artist member gallery in California.
