The Truth about Stars

I lay with gaze skyward in forgotten fields of eons past
as voices from past mouths weave
lines of offering and hearsay into my mind
each echoing claim to be the truth about stars
their seeds for thought past on through
lullabies whispers and wayward dreams
each with no room to grow within me
as I thwart them and leave my own mind to ponder and speculate
as it reaches a deep trance like state of unconsciousness
and small flashes of light rush over the horizon
the sorrow of stars from royal souls past perhaps
some honoured with a brighter glow for their nobility
as they watch poor governance and long to be back with the living
or weep from lustful eyes to remind us of their legacies
or maybe stars are trapped souls forced to watch the scars
they left from wicked lives for an eternity
or nurturing fairies that come out to dance
and guard off undesirable beings
maybe stars are lights from fallen mothers that
lead the weary home from crooked roads and violent seas
or merely refraction of sunlight off the shiny wings
of enormous high flying birds
the clouds come and still no theory seems more plausible and
unchallengeabe as I await another clear sky upon which to ponder
