Artist's Description

Trillium grandiflorum, aka White Trillium. Blooms April-June; July-August. A common perennial that grows in rich woods and shady coves throughout the Southern Applalachians. Most white-flowered species of Trillium, especially Large-flowered Trillium as this one, have petals that change to pink with age; although some may be pink upon emergence. Grows 8 to 18 inches tall and often grows in large colonies. This was taken in Macon County, North Carolina in an area along Buck Creek. There were hundreds in every direction and I was in total awe at how beautiful nature really is.
