Artist's Description

Bluets. (Houstonia caerulea) Delicate, but small perennials, that grow in clumps and spread by slender rhizomes. The thin flower stalks may be from 1-3 inches or more tall. They are common in lawns, clearings and forest margins throughout the state of North Carolina. Blooming in April-May. Taken in Jackson County, rural roadside at forest’s edge.
