The year is 1994. Malinda is sixteen. The average looking girl is walking with her boyfriend to her next class, playfully letting her fingers run on the back of his neck. She knows this gets to him, so she does it just because she can. Suddenly Donnie bends her backwards and gives her a kiss that makes her knees quiver. “WOW!”, she said. Now Donnie didn’t realize how much this affected her. Malinda was his first girlfriend, after all, so he was kind of clumsy in the ways of love. Her long brown curls carress her back halfway down. She looks at Donnie’s dark brooding eyes and thinks that he is just everything. Shortly after this interlude, Malinda is forced to move away, thinking she would never again have her version of Romeo again.

Fast forward if you will until the year 2008. Fifteen years later. Malinda is thirty years old now. She is a divorced mother of three, getting used to being alone, when her thoughts take over again. She begins to think of Donnie like she has so many times over the years. An idea forms. She gets onto myspace.com and low and behold, she is staring deep into those eyes that just make her weak in the knees. She has found Donnie. Should she contact him? Would he even remember her. She almost chickens out like she has so many times before. Then, willing her fingers to the keyboard, she begins to type out her message to him, praying to god that he remembers and she doesn’t feel like a fool.

The next day, she checks her messages. He remembers. She is so happy that nothing could take her out of the clouds. They talk…and talk…and talk…until about 4 in the morning, minus a couple of hours for him to get some work done, and keep a prior commitment. The time just flies by as she pours her heart out about what she is feeling. Thank god he doesn’t think her a freak – or an obsessed psycho stalker ex girlfriend.
She feels better and the conversation heats up. And when all is said and done, she is glad she took the leap and sent him the message in the first place.
