Artist's Description

The Great Spangled Fritillary butterfly is named for the metallic silver spots on the underwings. They readily visit fragrant flowers, and milkweed is a favorite.

This picture was taken in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, USA, in summer. This is an older picture and I believe it was taken with the Sony DSC H9 set to macro. It may have been taken with my first camera, the Olympus FE 240, set to macro.

Dedicated to those lovely critters that populate our world!
