Artist's Description

Parenting is tough! This young Great Black Backed Gull is trying to learn how to eat a crab. I watched as the parent brought the live crab to it, shook the crab to stun it (I’m guessing because it was still alive), and fed a leg to the youngster. The baby kept examining the crab, picked it up, dropped it, and looked questioningly at it’s Mom. The Mom repeated the shaking and feeding, but the baby begged for her to feed him. She patiently repeated the process while he looked on. I never did see him eat by himself! * KIDS!*

The pink tinge to the legs makes me say they are Great Black-backed Gulls. the Lesser Black-backed gulls have yellow legs. More info here:
