Born Again

I cried when I saw the world.
Taken from the warm sea by
things alien; cold and hungry.
Spanked (I should have gotten used to it)
and set under bright lights,
then poked and prodded for perfection.
I was a tiny model of innocence,
born into sin.

He cried when he saw my sin.
Taken from his fleeing friends by
a traitor’s kiss,
Mocked (should God be used to it?)
and spit upon for amusement,
then scourged and crucified for redemption.
He was the perfect model of forgiveness,
who bore our sins.

I can’t remember how long ago I wrote this – it’s been a few years. But I think it still has enough merit to share.
