Backstreet Love
(A Honky Tonk Girl’s Song)
I love in darkness where no one can see
Where my only witness is a deserted alley.
I wait patiently for you to appear
Not knowing how long it will be.
I get one moment of joy
After days of sorrow.
It is a cycle….
I now see your shadow approaching
My heart beats faster,
I agonize and travail….
With every tear I shed, I drive my pain away,
With every sad gaze, I curse at the nothingness and hopelessness of it.
Let me ask you my sweetheart-
How long can we make this backstreet love last?
