Artist's Description

Another shot from the Square Mile series, when my good friend Shawn and I, walked around the area.

Cornhill, EC3 is situated in the heart of the London “Square Mile” or City of London. Originally the highest hill within the City of London, Cornhill was the location of a medieval grain market, which is how it got its current name.

At “No 1 Cornhill”, this “grade II listed”: property was created with Portland stone and is a major feature of this area, due to its striking architecture and unusual domed roof. It’s situated in the most central location in the City of London, facing the buildings of Royal Exchange, The Bank of England and Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor Of London.

I can’t find much history about the building itslef, but today it has been converted into serviced office space, with the old banking hall refurbished as an exclussive meeting place. The dome functions as a meeting room, offering some of the most spectacular views of the London’s financial centre.
