Artist's Description

Palamidi is the Venetian castle that dominates the hill above the lovely seaside town of Nafplio, in Greece. Built around 1714 AD and passed from the Venetians to the Ottomans and then the Greeks, it is steeped in history.

But what fascinated me most was the amazing interplay between the stones and the strong sunlight. Didn’t make it easy taking pictures of course, but I like a challenge… :-)

This shot was initially too dark, so I had to generate 5 frames from the original RAW file, and use HDR to balance it out, before converting to B&W.

[Sony a350, Sigma 17-70@20mm, 1/125, f:9]
