Artist's Description

Nature has an amazing capacity to create art forms in all shapes and sizes. Is this a plant, fungus or some form of prehistoric fossil? In fact it’s just simple crusty lichen growing on the windowsill bricks next to my garage. It’s only about 2-3cm big. But it’s nature’s way to say “Man-made, huh? I’ll show you!” ;-)

I only wish I had a better macro lens to hand when I took this, to get some of the amazing textured detail. I’ll have another go this year…

(Minolta 5D, kit lens 18-70 @70mm, f:8 1/125sec, ISO 80, EV -1)
