Artist's Description

“When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock” is the first line of a poem by James Whitcomb Riley, known as the “Hoosier Poet.” He was a favorite of my father, who also wrote several books of country-style poetry. My mother (she and I were born in Indiana) used to read me Riley’s poems at bedtime, so when I added a bit of a frost filter to this pumpkin from White House Fruit Farm near Canfield, Ohio, it brought back some wonderful memories.
