Artist's Description

The Perry monument was built in 1926 to commemorate Oliver Hazard Perry on his victory over the British in the Battle of Lake Erie. It is located in Presque Isle State Park (Misery Bay) in Erie. This year marks the bicentennial of the 1813 battle, with all sorts of activities, including visits by the Tall Ships, along Ohio’s Lake Erie shores. In Erie, the Perry 200 Commemoration will include more than 30 events over the next 18 months.
