Artist's Description

Schoenbrunn Village was settled in 1772 by David Zeisberger, a Moravian missionary, and is considered to be Ohio’s first settlement. The village eventually included more than 60 dwellings, and reportedly the 300 or so residents – which included members of the Delaware Indians tribe and Moravian missionaries – built the first Christian church and schoolhouse in the Buckeye State. The village, near New Philadelphia, has been recreated and is open to the public. Most buildings are named; the home at the left was occupied by the Papunhank family.
