Artist's Description

“Gesture or Mudras”
Cincihna mudra, the thumb and index finger grasp a fine object as a a grain of truth. It is the gesture for understanding. This is a symbol for spiritual understanding. The palms face outwards, suggesting realization of the Absolute.

Vitarka Mudra, tips of the thumb and index finger touch, forming a circle. All other fingers are extended upwards, denotes, discussion and teachings on truth.

Abhaya in Sanskrit means fearlessness. This mudra symbolizes protection, peace, and the dispelling of fear. It is made with the right hand raised to shoulder height, the arm crooked, the palm of the hand facing outward, and the fingers upright and joined.

Mudras are hand gestures or positions which symbolize divine manifestation.
