Artist's Description

This piece measures 7 feet long. It is a group of four words in my invented language called Tapissary. It reads: “speak-the-same-language”. The photograph was in my recent exhibit along with 3 other works of a similar nature. Tapissary is a hieroglyphic script that I have been leisurely working on for a couple decades.

The digital collage element is a key technique in all four of the works. In this particular piece, various stories rendered into Tapissary plate the surface. The imagery in the panels are taken from photos of my sculpture, my digital files, and hieroglyphic texts.

One of the nice surprises that came of this piece as it hung in the gallery was the mirror quality it assumed toward sunset. The light flooded through the window, reflecting the visitors as they walked in the region of this large black glossy piece.
