Artist's Description

Journal entry No.04/09 On the Island
I have decided to travel light, having thrown off all of the baggage of my art in order to find a more pure way of expressing that passion without the struggle of my cluttered mind. I am leaving letters here and there, addressed to no one, addressed to everyone I miss. The whispering muse was not here; I know that now. Still, I had to make this trek to find that I could not find her, because she was not lost. It was me.

As I leave another letter on a ledge above the dew line, I am suddenly reminded of Whitman when he wrote,
“I see something of God in each hour of the twenty-four, and each moment then,
In the faces of men and women I see God, and in my own face in the glass,
I find letters from God dropt in the street, and every one is sign’d by God’s name,
And I leave them where they are, for I know that wheresoe’er I go
Others will punctually come for ever and ever.”
