a little update on my stepfather-why i'm not here

I went to see him monday in the hospital..and he hasn’t opened his eyes yet…he moves a bit – his hands and his legs and he even yawned a few times…I told him I was there and wanted him to open his eyes..but i got…
although I think he did move his fingers a bit when I was holding his hand. His legs and arms are very swollen..and the nurses were worried about his kidneys on sunday..but apparently they are a little better….
I know when your kidneys fail you swell up like that…thats what happened to my father.
I hope he’s going to pull out of this…his feeding tube is down his nose (ick).that can’t be comfy..and he has a tube down his throat helping him breathe..and of course his tongue is turning white from having his mouth open all the time..but the nurse says that happens…
they did a scan of his head, chest and stomach and apparently ..everything came back normal…so.. we still don’t know whats wrong with him. I hope he hasn’t had another stroke..
the scan says he didn’t …..
Its sad to see him like that…I don’t know what to think. Sadly enough, neither do the dr’s at this moment

and as of yesterday:
The dr’s still don’t know what’s wrong with my stepfather. Now they think he has some sort of lung disease. Not cancer because there is no tumors or anything that they can see. He’s still on assissted breathing and will be until some number (which is currently 15) drops to at least 6 – then they will think about taking that breathing tube out. He still hasn’t opened his eyes but he does respond to pain etc. When the nurses poke him. And he yawns. Mom actually stayed home yesterday evening, she is really tired. I believe they are going to be bringing another dr in. It’s frustrating for the staff there too..
