Crucible of Prayer

The crucible of prayer
laying across hot coals
to birth out the Words of the Holy Spirit
to get to His Words and not mine
to lose mine in His
to tie my tongue
to Praise His Holy Name
to erase my humanity
in those moments
i am deepest in the wonder of God
i struggle to be in the venue of timelessness
where space is only hearts beating as one
to capture a consummation, to strip the flesh
back to loathe the sins in me and the world
wailing for holiness as the starving
as the hungry die for a crust of bread
and the thirsty long for a drop of water
the children of The Most High
regard His Will the soul of religion
prayer comes at a high cost
to self
sleeplessness, fastings, introspections
taking the scalpel to rip out specks
to pluck out eyes and cast off hands
following the Lord is to take up one’s cross
and to crucify the flesh,
not sacrifice but sanctification
i cast myself at His feet
at the edge of Glory
i don’t always find rest there
i wrestle with my flesh
to not leave until He prays
until I pray as a priest
and intercede for people
no one will pray for
until My High Priest intercedes
on my behalf
and the incense of my prayers
lay bare before Him
until He transforms
my prayers
into His desires
until the desires of my heart
match His
and prayers are not arguments
but a soul in utter submission

Artist's Description

There are times prayer is not rest, but a wrestling, a crucible of prayer, not to force His Holy Will, but to be conformed to His Holy Will.
