Artist's Description

a blending of memorials I composed in PS CS5 in honor of those who paid the ultimate price in defense of the ideals of freedom. The Washington Monument stands there in its repair scaffolding, watching from a distance, a mute witness to the terrible toll exacted upon the spirit of our country by the Vietnam war. The obelisk stands silently like a heartbroken father in a body-brace, its reflection shining in obsidian glory in the names of the 50K lives sacrificed to base impetus. If it had eyes to see, they would be shuttered behind lids too swollen with anguish at the atrocious waste of such extravagance as to remain beyond the forbearance of even exemplary powers of contemplation. That the lessons of the World Wars could be so shoddily learned that even one life could be forfeited to greed – this damnable reality screams in silence from the black gleaming face of the wall.
