Water

The water glistens in the sun
sparkling and inviting constantly
Stating, “I am what I am,
I dance and I swerve,
I roll and I curve
And let you see my beauty.”
Your rage is hidden beneath your quiet swells
You’ve taken human life without a thought
Yet you’ve given life over and over again
“Are we even?”
I wonder if you think we are
You swirl around boats and docks and buoys
And part for any intrusion you may encounter
Your gentle lapping is so serene
Your voice calms my heart
And assures my mind
