Where Would We Be?

Where Would We Be?

If I could be with you where would we be?
What would we hear? Who would we see?
How could we follow the course of the Sun?
Why would we finish what we’d just now begun?

Time is illusive, not waiting on dreams.
It lives for the moment, then rushes and schemes.
Kicking and swearing with embattled lament
We fight for the constant, and explain what we meant.

You know me well, more than I think.
You are my lifeline, my handclasp and link.
Hold on tightly and don’t let me go.
I’m drawn by your beauty, the lust in your show.

If we wished harder would all come to pass?
Stinging and staring through shards of sharp glass.
Never approaching the blind naked truth.
We sleep with the proper and shun the uncouth.

I’m calling for reason to reckon our day.
Scrambling for seasons to beckon and play.
We could be perfect if given the chance.
We’d sing with the music and jive with the dance.

Call to me clearly your voice is adrift.
Open your heart; I’ve feelings to sift.
Speak of our blessings and changes of face,
We’ve new worlds to conquer with power and grace.
