I watched the Monarch land on a number of flowers before finally settling on this Giant Sunflower. Unfortunately, I had my 17 to 70 on because I’d been taking macro shots of the sunflowers and others nearby and, as we all know, Monarchs don’t sit in one spot for too long, so I didn’t think I’d have time to change lenses. Anyway, I moved the tripod a little closer, step by step, until I figured I was near enough to get a half decent shot. Well, I could have changed lenses, retied my shoelaces and had a pee during the time this butterfly rested on the flower. You never know, eh?
