The Highway of Life

A space in your head says stop,
But your instincts say keep going,
Where does the road lead?
We’ll learn as a part of growing.
Destination unknown,
For all to ponder,
What’s around that corner?
Or that mountain over yonder?
As the years go by,
Our vehicles get old,
With love as our heaters,
We’ll never be cold.
Only a fool would drive too fast,
Because the highway of life was meant to last,
Soon enough that quarter mile
Will be your last.
How many lives must go,
Before we rebel and shout ‘No!’
Help them through
And let them grow
So what if the destination is unknown,
Because one day at a time,
Will make the highway of life,
Last forever
