Artist's Description

Today was actually the anniversary of the Manhattan Bridge and fireworks were scheduled for sunset. Instead taking a tip from my RB friend Lina, I took a trip to see the Verrazano, a bridge I have always admired above all other New York City Bridges because of it’s clean and simple design. Named for Giovanni Verrazano who was the first European to navigate both the Hudson River and New York Harbor, it upon completion in 1964 was then the largest suspension bridge in the world. Historically the bridge took nearly five years to complete, was designed by Chief Engineer Othman Amman as a double decker, and was the last major Public Works project under Robert Moses.
