Artist's Description

I had set my tripod up and was waiting for a large female red-tailed hawk to fly to one of her favorite trees one morning in late September. After about an hour I took a second away from looking at the tree and to stretch, looked around and saw this guy about 70 yards off to my right I had to move my camera slowly enough to not scare him off but fast enough to get the shot.
I got lucky and here he is. I later showed this image to a couple of the rangers in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio. ( This was actually taken less than a quarter of a mile from the Park Headquarters ) and they both agrEed that was about the biggest buck they had seen in the valley in quite some time.
Just as a point of reference, at full extension my tripod is close to 6’ tall; when the camera is mounted, the lens is very close to 6’ off the ground and you can get an idea of his size by the shooting angle.

CAMERA: CANON AE-1 PROGRAM
