Democracy in the shadows

Finally the primary elections come to the end. Of course, it was very obvious to the American people and the world that Barack Obama would be the representative for the presidency of the United States of America for the Democratic Party. However Hillary Rodham Clinton did not get the memo that it was over and she continued to destroy the Democratic Party and bring more embarrassment to our already tainted electoral system. So she finally got the memo and decided that it was over and she endorses Barack Obama and pledges her full support, like what else she would say, she knows she has done great disservice to the Democratic Party. So now the question becomes; which candidate is capable of bringing this great nation forward? We already know that Presidential Candidate John McCain feels that the current road that this great nation is traveling is the right and only path. Perhaps this is one of those moments where he has forgotten that President George Bush has sling shot this nation down this so call right road with no beneficial ending to this great nation, or perhaps he has no vision and all he could do is keep following the visions of a blind man.

Now we have with no experience presidential hopeful Barack Obama who sounds more like a socialist every time he gives a speech than a democrat, now that’s scary! Many people feel that if President Candidate Barack Obama wins the presidency investors will pull their investment out causing a total collapse of the already fragile economy.

Wow! Once again the people are deprived to choose a good president that would lead this great nation. But wait the people do not have to choose the president of the United States of America, the popular vote does not get you elected, is the electoral vote that gets you elected. But wait, what am I saying? How could that be? Oh! Now I understand the only vote that counts is the one that are submitted by the officials with the power to cast the electoral vote. Wow! Now I understand democracy.

The American vote only counts for the senate and House the rest is nothing more than a show to illustrate a democratic form of government that does not exist. But like everything else democracy has its limitation and its faults, however Democracy might not be perfect but gives power to the people to express themselves openly and freely without reprisal from the government itself. Without the guarantees of the Constitution of the United States of America this article would not be possible and if written without the current constitution imprisonment or death would be imminent.

As the presidential election takes form and all the millions of dollars are wasted we the people could only hope and pray that the new elected president leads this great country forward and out of the economical blunder that the current president had placed it in. We the people don’t elect the president of the United States, perhaps one day it will change and the true electoral power will be given to the people as it should be in a true democracy.

Artist's Description

Democracy should exist without boundaries or limitations. The fear of the American people is very real with this new presidential election. The future of the United States of America is at stake and yet the people have no saying or elective power. The democracy of the United States of America is hiding behind the shadows of both houses of government.
