death- one minute at a time.....

Jason lay in his end repose.
His view was a round paspallum -framed patch of vivid blue. The reed tops sighed and rustled in the breeze, a symphony for his pain. Puffy clouds scudded across his vision and he amused himself picking out shapes to suit. Rabbits, bears, cars and dogs materialised.
How long had he lain there? He had lost track of time.
He was sure he was paralyzed from the neck down. Nothing would work for him.
The bike had stopped screaming now.
“Probably out of fuel now”, he thought.
“So this is what it is like to die”, he thought again.
The flies had found him. They crawled into his nose and drank from the corners of his eyes. All he could do was blink them away. A crazy thirst enveloped him and he could feel his tongue swelling in response.
He listened for cars.
None came.
