I've gone FULL FRAME!

Well, I’ve lashed out (with Tracy’s nod) on a 5D MkII. I’ve barely had time to use it but I’ve bloted the 17-40 F4 L on to it and wow, full framed 17mm is awesome. I’m loving how things look at high ISO too. I love the feel of the thing, the shutter sound, the dial’s, the big LCD display wow, I love everything about it. Now I’ve just got to get some cool ideas for shots ;-)

Speedlite 580 EX II.

Well, I’ve just taken another plunge and bought the Speedlite 580 EX II. It arrived today, Yeeehaa. I havent looked at the instruction booklet yet but from what I’ve read on-line there’s quite a bit to it, no, there’s a shot load to it! Its kinda daunting but I’m excited. I think its going to get a bit of use over the weekend. Hopefully I’ll have my head around it by then (at least the basics).Mick.

Loving Life.

Well, I’m really enjoying life at the moment. Not that I ever notice when I’m not enjoying life, its just that lately I’ve been noticing that it goooood more than I usually do. Since finding photography a year or two ago I’ve found that the more I put into it, the more I’m getting out of it. The last couple of meet ups with fellow Bubblers has just shown me that this hobby is also a great way to meet other photo nuts. These days I’m looking at everything as though I had a lens in front of me, “Ohh, that would make a great shot” “Hmm, if I come back here late evening the light would be terrific” etc etc. Its great. I was at Stirling last weekend getting fire wood. Whoa, the trees up there look fantastic. We’ve been getting some cool looking clouds coming through lately too, and winter is …

Ferret Picnic at Belair National Park.

Hi all. Just a quick thanks for all the support we (TubularBelle and myself) have received from the lovely people from RedBubble following the loss of our little man Farken the Ferret. Rachel Leopold in particular who has really gone out of her way to try and bring him home to us. Thanks Rachel, you’ve been great!Tracy had organised a picnic day before Farken went missing with Rachel, Tania and Kylie (all Ferret mad) and we were in two minds as to whether we would go ahead with it. Well, we did and it was great. We had a perfect afternoon at the park and just seeing other little fury ferrets made us feel a little better.Anyway, Tracy has the photo’s that we took in here Bubble. Here’s the link." http://www.redbubble.com/people/tubularbelle "

The 70-200 is Kooooooool man!

Whooot whoooo. I’ve only had the 70-200 for two days now but I love it (I knew I would). Was out this morning trying to get a shot of a freight train. I’ve been trying for ages using the 17-40 but they just havent been sharp (apart from the stationary one’s anyway). I havent processed them yet but boy, they look sharp as a tack from what I’ve seen. Still, its a lot of lens and I’ve got a heap to learn about it.Mick.

A new lens on the way.

I’ve just bought a third camera lens for my Canon 400D. I’ve been into photography a little for around 4 years, getting a little Sony point and shoot when I started doing my more extravagant fishing trips so I could record the moments for prosperity. Around 12 months ago I decided to splurge and bought my first DSLR. I justified the expense by telling myself that although its a lot of money up front, thats just about all I’ll have to spend, seeing as how most of my pics will go into the PC and the actual taking of pics is free. Well, it didnt quite work like that did it! I bought a little 50mm 1.8 prime because I’d seen lots of work from other people and for the price the nifty fifty seemed a great buy (and it is)but I knew I’d need a landscape lens too, so before I even recieved the came…

A BIG Thank You.

OK, my first journal entry and here it goes. I’d just like to thank the person who bought a one of my photographs. It gave me such a buzz when I saw that I had “Sold Work”. I dont know who you are but thanks very much.

Mick.
