Artist's Description

Saint Pio of Pietrelcina [1887-1968]. He was a holy monk in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. He experienced visions, stigmata and bilocation.
Top left: Padre Pio with Pope John-Paul II when the latter was still a seminarist; top right: Maria Esperanza – a Venezuelian seer with phenomena similar to Padre Pio’s whom he visited twice through bilocation. This is her portrait at 5 having a vision of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux emerging from the Orinoco River and tossing a rose in the water. Acrylic on canvas 30 × 60 cm.
This painting was blessed by Father Joseph of the Franciscans of the Immaculate friary in Munster, Western Australia.
