Artist's Description

This is Belougery Spire photographed with Canon 400D on the Grand High Tops walking track.
HDR .. Tone mapped in Photomatix.

It’s one of the fantastic volcanic plugs in the Warrumbungle National Park. These plugs are created when the softer rock forming the volcano weathers away over millions of years leaving the harder solidified lava remaining.

The Warrumbungle National Park is near Coonabarabran in the north west of NSW, Australia & features a great range of Australian wildlife. There are dozens of kangaroos that come to feed close to the walking tracks near sunset.

Yes, the capital S was deliberate.
