Life As Poetry

The late afternoon sun at my back transforms me into a fifteen-foot shadow and creates a thin, dark line of shade which abuts the chipping yellow curb. The small depression formed by the trowel of the laborer that finished these sidewalks many years ago is littered with broken twigs, sand, and cigarette butts. I feel this moment is surreal. I am capturing it all on film in my mind. Each detail, vivid and beautiful, emblazons itself in my memory. I worry that a scene so negligible to others may never exist in such a moment of poetic beauty again. But I find faith that it will. Because this world and this life are my muses. The empty sheet of paper is my canvas. I create bold pictures with colorful words, and moments as trivially important as this one will live on forever.
