Unearthing the Human

Destruction inside as well as out
From deep within I feel the earth screaming
In my mind I face fear and doubt to what will become
when everything I know has been undone
When the nurturing earth reaches her brink
And the human race becomes extinct.

Then the mother shall live in peace
As she was intended.

Even if we fight to save what we have now,
we have already lost the battle
Have drained her of what she needed to grow
and lost more than we will ever know
In her, laid life, the mother of us all
But we were too unenlightened to hear her call.
And too enthralled inside our selves to help anyone
else.
To see the big picture
and through own fears,
so soon
we shall taste her tears…

As volcanoes erupt and spew ash
and the glaciers melt into the sea
As the winds churn
and the cities burn
So soon shall this be
You think to yourself what it could have been,
but time grows nearer to the end.

And the battle is lost and at what cost
the human who thrived upon her, and took advantage.

Nothing left anymore to salvage as hope becomes
erased
Humanity extinct, not even a trace.
Not what you own,
or what you did.
Not what you invented or how you lived.
Not what you became or who you were,
None of this will matter anymore.
The only thing that will matter is what you took and how
much of it, based solely upon the fact that it was what
you needed.
So as she bleeds don’t complain for we are alone to
blame.

Artist's Description

Centuries have passed and still we extract all she has to give. The land in which we live on we take more than we need and bleed her dry. It is painful to see the pollution, and the depths to which people will go to have what they need. Here we kill now for oil to provide energy when there are other methods. But too costly they are to research. Lining the pockets of the government while blood is spilled tainting the land from which we came.
