Anniversary

A year has passed
Since that fateful day
When so many loved ones
Were taken away.

Up till this day we took life for granted
Thinking we would always be here
Funny how this act of cowardice
Filled our hearts with fear.

But from this fear there grew a will
Stronger than before
To stand up and defend our homes
Feet firmly planted on the floor.

A new found pride
In the red, white, and blue
As Americans once again
Saluted Old Glory as she flew.

So let the world know
Both enemy and ally
If you mess with the USA
You will hear our battle cry.

Let them know that the lives lost that day
That changed us all forever
Will live on in our hearts and minds
And will fuel our every endeavor.

Pray each night that these innocents knew
Their deaths were not in vain
That through their death as unexpected as it was
They united a country that was ravaged with pain.
