“Thus, the Veena is the abode of divinity and the source of all happiness.”- R. Rangaramanuja Ayyangar
The Veena is an instrument that Indians have been playing since 1500 B.C.E. This sanctimonious instrument is said to create music which takes the artist to a transcendental place closer to the oneness of the Universe.
Not only does it make beautiful music, but its design is truly exquisite. This is my mother’s Veena (and although she didn’t really use it as a source of meditation, but to play Abba on!), and this is a picture of the head of the Veena or the Yali, which is a dragon representing Lord Vishnu, the Hindu God who supports, sustains and governs the universe.
