'Tide in the Bay of Mont Saint Michel' - Digital Art Painting by Menega Sabidussi.
Panorama format image in a two-toned watercolour style of the tide flooding into the sandy Bay of Mont Saint Michel in France with the iconic shape of the monastic abbey mount in the distance. I was there the first time in 1984 at a special time in my life.
Mont Saint-Michel stands in the centre of a huge bay invaded by the largest tides in Europe. Covering a distance of almost 13 metres on days of high tidal range (up to 15 metres during spring tides), the tide goes out very quickly over some 10 kilometres, and comes in again just as quickly. The expression used is that it "comes in as fast as a galloping horse". The bay with its expanse of glimmering sands, water and salt marshes is a massive 500 km2 (190 sq mi) and the light here is exceptional. It is a magical place.
