Artist's Description

Here is my Dad in his glory. He is right in his element here. Living in a tent and cooking over a campfire in the open was pure heaven to my Dad.

On the rare times he took off from work, this would be the type of vacation he would take. My Mom stayed home…..after that one camping trip. Mom and Dad seemed to come to an arrangement that Dad would Camp and Mom would take me to the beach for a vacation. Dad would take off for a week or 2 at a time to venture out in the wilderness…….Mom and I would wave good bye. As a child it did not seem odd to me at all. I thought all parents took separate vacations. In the summer, Mom and I would take off for several weeks “down at the shore” in Lavalette, New Jersey. Dad woud wave good bye and I guess eat his dinners out. He would drive to Lavalette on Sat. and leave again on Sunday. Dad had no great love for the beach. What they did do together was take 2 and 3 day weekends. They would usually go either to the Poconos in Penna. or Atlantic City, N.J. On those special weekends I was always left at home with my Grandmother.
