Can't See Straight? Draw a Cat Shape.

Ana Belaj of the cozy group !Delightful Duvets! featured my striped, feline, flowery design The Tale of the Orange Cat and a Mouse Against Flowers

This week’s features are pleasingly varied, yet still cohesive as an impressive whole. Do take a look.

This is a silhouette of an extremely well loved kitty named Tiger. The art was a spin-off of a commissioned portrait I drew. I decided to have fun with just the shape of the red tabby. I was having a time with bad vision and muscles from Myasthenia Gravis symptoms (I blog about it) and wanted a more simple, stamped style than what I might usually tend to do. I thought just a cat shape would be a bit dull, so I conjured up a mouse and then delightfully playful flowers. Then it was time to play around with settings and backgrounds. This duvet i

Wine for Thanksgiving

My Sunday started off well with a food art feature in the group PIXELATIONS Thank you, DebiDabble. Thanks also (from a bit later) to RobynLee of Into Impressionism & Abstract Art

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I’m sure many folks have their minds set on food and drink. Wine and Grapes V2 has been a popular design, and it makes a great gift for any connoisseurs on your holiday shopping list. The design is also available here on a blue background.

What wine lover wouldn’t agree with this?

This design was inspired by vino, and the diversity of types of wine glasses, and many wine colors. I wanted to get away from my usual complex / ornate designs and strip down to something simple and vaguely abstract. I also just felt like dealing with a very accessible subject. Wine came to mi

Curious Orange (Cat)

Thank you All Things Orange Artwork Gallery and TeAnne for featuring Izzie Caught Unawares "this week.…

It’s an accomplished group bursting with …. orange! See the featured art that I’m amongst here

I have a confession. I have never owned a cat. Because of this, I am always delighted when folks trust me with the beloved fur babies’ images, or when I get to make friends with one out of house. I did once live in a house with a sweet, crazy kitten once, and I’ll never forget it. My favorite “happening” was when said kitten sat in a window on the sill, with closed blinds behind it. A bug must’ve flown high up in the window area, causing said kitty to spring into action with force and enthusiasm, jumping 5 feet straight up. This didn’t go so well, because the blinds were present. Thus occurred

When October Still Haunts You

Thank you This and That and "*EdsMum*: for hosting such a great Halloween Challenge. My dark heart beats stronger.

My dreary homage To Remain in Halifax placed in the top 10 at number 8. Such a great top 10. Be sure to see the collection

During a chilly day in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with his song by Translator: Everywhere That I’m Not on my mind, I took camera and in hand and hit the streets. It was a lovely surprise to happen upon this cemetery. As addressed in a former post I like resting with the resting at times, but that time I was loving creative work.

A Tear of Joy for Halloween

Puhlease check out my Instagram or FB feeds for all that I’m up to tonight. This season has been so rewarding, with new creative friendships and the realization of a dream.

The day has started off so nicely, with a bit of a sentimental tear, in fact. Spooky got featured in the Back in Black Group on RedBubble. Thanks so much Debidabble The day ended with a feature from Tuesday Afternoon Thank you, Kay Such a great Halloween.

There’s so much to tell about the following work.

First off, the RB stuff: I just reformatted this image to achieve an amazing look on RB fashion and larger prints on other RB merch from Melasdesign I was overjoyed to discover that TIF images upsize very nicely.

This dark art image is from the early 2000’s and was my first “commercial succes

I'm Back in Black!

I’ve been listening to a bit of AC/DC lately, and posted a new design on black. It’s only fitting, I suppose, that my abstract line art on black background design Night in Morocco got featured in the Back in Black Group on RedBubble. Thanks so much Debidabble

I created the image with surface design in mind: prints on textiles. Of course I had fun placing the artwork on almost all of the RedBubble offerings. These fashion items are my favorite:

So guys can light up the night too:

Then my favorite. I love the cut of this dress.

These are fun too. Why not accessorize with your outfit?

A top and phone match is hot!

Then the last, which I simply find pleasing to the eye. Maybe to write about that night?

Is a Ghost Ever Not Abstract?

I’m raring at the bit as October 31 nears. I’m delighted that another dark art / Halloween work of mine got a solid nod. This time it makes me bubble with joy, because it is a truly organic, hand painted piece.…

Thank you All AbStrAct Art for the Fright Night feature. Click that link now to see all the great dark art. It’s so rewarding to be in such good company. Thanks so much Lina

Ghosts and Shadow People is a down and dirty expressionist abstract painting in my Halloween / Dark Collection When I am strong enough to paint (Myasthenia Gravis is a drag), I relish the experience. With this piece I wanted a grungy, rough, in your face effect. I thought of the Shadow Person theme, and ran with it. Although I am no longer glued to shows like GhostHunters I am a paranormal enthusiast. It’s suc

Electric and Yellow

My work is just getting into more and more thrilling group features. Do check out this bunch. Thanks EdsMum and This and That and then Creation soon thereafter for featuring Flower Visits Art Gallery

I made this art over a decade ago, when I was still active on DeviantArt I really enjoyed being able to use stock art from other DA artists, which is the case with the flower in this picture. I have only recently begun to experiment with photography myself for any “official” purposes. I remember I really wanted to achieve a sense of depth and an almost electric color effect. It seems that people are warming to photomanipulations a bit more again, so there is more flower art in the offing. This time it will be completely composed with my own footage. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, see my Flower

Dreaming of Halloween - Literally

Halloween is SO close!
Thank you Creating Great RB Product Designs for the feature. I’m truly blown away by the whole group and honored to be in the midst.

My cutest dark art: Halloween Dream Town tells the most complete story of the Dream Series collection. I drew from childhood thoughts of Halloween and a vivid dream I had one night of the perfect Halloween town. I’ve expanded on this idea by making a self-created Halloween display for 2018 together with a friend. Follow Melasdesign on FB or YouTube for more, right up to Halloween. Lastly, subscribe to my blog and forget about social media.

See my Halloween / Dark Collection for other dark art of a more sinister ilk.

When Death Comes a Courting

Dark and broodingly loving that my very macabre illustration Black Eyed Susan got featured in the group Amazing Challenge Entertainment

The experience of creating this drawing was so amazing that I’m especially thrilled with any nods it gets. The concept of the image is the depiction of a murder ballad – inspired by musician/writer Jeremy Rodgers / Helltown Riffraff – who would so beautifully put this into song. A skull and a blue flower are shown. A once cheery Black Eyed Susan turned insidious poison blue after being presented by a malevolent lover. The skull is the presenter, and symbol of approaching death. How can love turn so wrong? The flower is the result of my first ever plein air flower drawing. It was a yellow Black Eyed Susan, but I changed it for this piece.
