Dinner Bell

Winds blow tunes as they pass through the buildings
While the sun, finally settles down on this eve
My collar, now raised, as I step to the alley
To witness a sight that I’d never believe
If not to have seen with my own two eyes
The fear of this now has me paralyzed

A man, or so I thought, had entered before me
Just seconds ahead, he went in alone
I thought I would steal, to take all his money
But, to my surprise, this man had so grown
With hair on his face and clothes ripped apart
He turned to face me with malice of heart

If thought were alive, I’d be ashamed of my act
The fear of this creature made me lose all control
My bodily functions overpowered my thoughts
For I knew at this moment my bell had been tolled
I screamed so I thought, but silence the winner
I felt my skin ripping, for I was his dinner
