My Irish Roots

I do not dream to wear the green
On any St Patrick’s Day
For the green itself exists in me
And is always on display
I carry my pride of Irish roots
So to wear it on my sleeve
It’s intertwined within my faith
As, it is what I believe

For every day, my dimples show
The pride within my heart
Of whom I am, my grandparents land
And their heritage impart
I carry with me, all the souls
Of the Irishmen before
To speak with pride, no Irish hide,
For I couldn’t love them more

No banshee’s wail, for me, curtail
The gift of gab I share
For the music starts, within me heart,
Of the land of maidens fair
For when I dream then, of the green
The fragrant Emerald Isle
I cannot help, but cry myself
Yet, the dream brings me to smile
