Artist's Description

This poem can be found among my writing also. As I was posting it over there, I noticed that on the art I have the title as “Strolling Through Heaven’s Door”…It was meant to be “Towards Heaven’s Door” but I’m leaving it as is, must be a reason I put it that way.

Having taken that stroll towards Heaven’s Door myself with more than a few in my life and with one in particular with whom I lived and was the primary caregiver, I wanted my friend to know she is not alone and that someone out here understands.

The experience of living together with and caring for another who is dying was by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done. We both went through the extremes of every emotion imaginable. To this day I still find it difficult to speak of it in other than general terms. One exception to this is my friend for whom I wrote this poem.

I am so grateful to find in our conversations about her current experiences that I am finally able to articulate with her my own.
