India Humanity Revealed

Trained beggar children attach themselves with hungry eyes.
Five Rupees and they scamper off with joy to their waiting mothers like well trained monkeys. In unguarded moments they play without a care.
The eyes of hunger watch your every move.
Shop keepers with their hawking lines entice with sweet “namaste” then reveal their true intentions.
“Hello which country, one photo, one chocolate, one rupee, namaste”
Hungry eyes of the house boys hoping for a gift, keenly observing your wealth.

Beyond the hunger is a warmth and friendly openness unmatched.
The love of conversation of togetherness , Few barriers to climb.

The air steams with smells of life and death unknown, spices, sewerage, perfumes.
The buzz of flies and songs of birds.
Calls to gods, come and pray. Cries of children, sounds of drums, car horns of warning, hawkers calling.
Colours of the earth flattered by rainbows of cloth and 20th century waste.
Unfathomable poverty and separation of wealth. Children working as adults.
Broken beggars faceless lepers.
Tourist lost in time, seeking the ultimate experience or running from the west.

Can’t wait to return !
