Valley of Tears © 2006

I never thought that would ever happen,
? what is going on in your divided and weary heart ?
why were you there residing, hiding, commanding
in hollow cracks of personal thought ?
how did you manage to walk directly into a once
private life, perfectly contented with sorrow,
wallowing in pain, tears and pity both, in measures
too abundant to swallow ?

you risk to put your heart out and to lay it in
anothers’ hands, have you examined those,
watched those, held those hands? do you know
where those hands have been, touched?
can your heart be trusted, was it broken, has it
yet healed, are you still disappointed?
do you bring your pity, pain, sorrow, and
disappointment with you… to your new love?

? what is the reason for your sudden affair and
attachment, besides nights of lonely torture?
is it not enough to toss alone in your sleep,
but need to share your misery with someone?
having sought out the healing powers, persons
to guide, and magic potions, are you whole?
have you noticed the trail marks that lead you
forward were marked with blood-stains and tears?
