This was commissioned by a descendent of Atama Paparangi.
Charles Frederick Goldie, OBE (1870-1947) was a well-known New Zealand artist, famous for his portrayal of Māori dignitaries.
I am uploading this as an example of a commission that can turn into a study of a master, in this case the master is Mr.C.F.Goldie. I learned a lot from painting this picture. I purposely chose to use a ‘redder’ palette than the original by Goldie (as I have chosen to do on other works After the Masters)
