echoes

Softness
It’s
This
Kiss whispered from her lips
When her kisses mix with his
And his whiskers itch her chin
He inches in
Seven sins
Whispering
Listening
Mist drips like the sweat glistening
Took down her guard like freedom from imprisonment
Bathed in her blessing like a christening
But whats interesting is
After this investing words stop resting
Like a heart in a chest and
They can freeze under – arresting
And the real meaning? Accosts him like an investment
Putting everything in loving his country
Then getting harassed for impressment
Clinging to the ideals he hopes represents him
But where is the love back from that original assessment?
The yes we can, I love you and march toward progression
When words alone aren’t tempered with action
All that’s left is the echoes of resentment
So do we treat the words like a testament
Or put faith in what’s left that hasn’t been said
But rests at the end of sentences?
Between the caresses and breathlessness
When loving was loving and not fighting for attention that’s
Just a shadow of a feeling that was shared without protection
Because tones turn no’s into yeses
And yeses into second guesses
Silent intuition that prevents wasted nesting
Echoes of remembrances of yesterdays lessons
When it was just as distressing to take her words and trust them
Knowing it could be minutes before she professed she messed them
So confess them knowing exposing the hopes of those emotions
Could tear them apart like oceans drifting frozen, alone and hopeless
Wondering what direction it’s toward for which they’ve working
And lately he’s been wrestling with glimpses of embellishments
Her kisses are devils in red dresses when they make love like selflessness
Tempting him to ask it for endlessness before he gets reminded
Their paths had to be as complex as this
She remembers the touch and rush of feelings she didn’t expect from him
Blushed red and beaded sweat, coming like promises kept to him
Before distance made sex just sexts and touches textureless
They wish for more, but wonder if each other secretly just wished for less
But in his heart it’s just a wish for the flesh of togetherness
Instead of the wonder if all he’d be remembered for
Was an ember of tenderness
So he says
“Baby we should be undressing
because my love hasn’t lessened
So let me express it”
Because even though he knows time is a temptress and she’s full of contempt that’s just
As hollow as the words that form her expressions
He doesn’t fear the days without a connection when falling in love took years
And when they’re together it feels like perfection
Alone they become full of restlessness
To be faded from each others recollection would be darkness mixed with depression
Becoming consumed with recklessness saying the heck with this
Am I even worth a dress up?
Because the let go feels like worthlessness
Left without a single kind word, the lack of address that’s just
A devastation covered with a justification she thinks is best for him
To put everything right in and then get left feeling purposeless…

So for those who can
Hold your lovers close
Keep them around your heart locked like necklaces
Touch them with your hands
Feel the essence that’s
Coming from the warmth they give
Because there are those who just wish anything
They had their lover close, with their name and ring
Not all the loneliness and doubt that the echoes bring

Artist's Description

This poem is about how people reach for higher ideals because they want to belong… for each that place they want to fit in differs… their country, their politics, their social clubs, their religion,.. etc.

Often they give their commitment to the ideal without asking for much back because they believe in it so much, but when they realize the same love isn’t coming back from the ideal because it actually doesn’t need them back… they are left trying to figure out what made them so caught up…

This is the story of when that happens in a relationship

And you see that in all these cases what we are left with is the echoes of our own voices projecting what values we WANT to believe not the dark reality of the ideal itself
