I came upon this place early after sunrise. Fresh snow was everywhere. Steam coming up off the mountain sides. The aspens showing off their color. The clouds however were obscuring the blue skies almost completely.
I hiked a mile into the canyon when suddenly the clouds parted. My heart jumped as this peak revealed itself out of the low clouds that previously had it so covered that there was absolutely no clue that it was ever there. I hiked as quickly as I could to this particular view, and was amazed to find the snow had already melted away from the ground and off the aspens.
Standing in this valley suddenly felt surreal in it’s beauty. More beautiful than this picture or my words could ever convey.
This event made the whole trip to the east side of the Sierras completely worthwhile.
