Our Maw

Well Wee Jean we’re all here
And to bubble too much is our biggest fear
We’re all here to say goodbye
With old Hughie you will lie

The in-laws and grand weans are all here too
They need to say farewell too
Mr Happy has been at his best
He’s put everyones patience to the test

Alec and Charles finally got the hut up
Ramsay has been drinking tea by the cup
Margaret has been pushing the hoover about all day
And the sinks never empty no matter what I say

We remember when you were called Mean Jean
Twechar’s Community Council Machine
Then you were head bummer at the Day Care
It was your baby so that was only fair

The phones red hot father used to say
It has not stopped ringing all day
Open a window before I choke
I canny breathe for all this smoke

You enjoyed your holiday with friends old and new
You were going back and with quite a crowd too

We played scrabble on a Saturday night
That will still continue but it won’t be quite right
One night you one two games in a row
And were so chuffed you let the whole family know

I struggled so hard to find the right words to say
About how we all feel today
We’ve lost the anchor from our life
The person we could turn to when in strife

You’ll always stay on our hearts so deep
And precious memories we have to keep

Our Maw
